CANADIAN PINES FOR BAGUIO PARK
Baguio City, Oct. 19, 1997 - Baguio now really deserves the title "City of Pines" with the inauguration of the "Pine Trees of the World Park" marked by the planting of trees from Canada.
President Ramos himself led the ceremonies, and received 65 pine saplings donated by the British Columbia Forestry and the Quebec Department of Natural Resources.
The donation consists of six species: Ponderosa Pine, Lodgepole Pine, Western White Pine, Eastern White Pine, Red Pine and Jack Pine.
The Baguio government and the Department of Tourism expect more varieties to come from Europe, Asia and Australia to add to the park's collection.
