BULACAN FIREWORKS MAKERS WARNED

Malolos, Bulacan, Oct. 13, 1997 - Bulacan Governor Roberto Pagdanganan has received reports that hundreds of firms and individuals are still engaged in the illegal manufacture and sale of firecrackers and other pyrotechnic products.

He said any company engaged in the manufacture or sale of these products must comply with the requirements embodied in Republic Act 7183. The law regulates the manufacture, sale, distribution and use of fireworks. It also provides for the licensing of fireworks manufacturers, the issuance of safety guidelines and the location of fireworks in specific zones to ensure the safety of the surrounding community and to avoid heavy casualties in case of any accident.

Governor Pagdanganan ordered a thorough inspection of factories and stores throughout Bulacan to ensure their compliance with the Firecracker Law, labor regulations and the provincial ordinance which bans the hiring of women and children.
