STOCKS POST MARGINAL GAIN
Manila, Oct. 18, 1997 - Trading as sluggish at the stock exchange yesterday, where purchases of select blue chips pushed the index up by 0.71 percent.
The Philippine Stock Exchange index closed at 2,050.88 points, 14.4 points higher than Thursday. PLDT gained P15 to close at P950 as the peso gained against the US dollar. Most of PLDT revenues are from international calls which are based on the U.S. dollar.
Other shares continued to shift with no definite direction, as the peso and interest rates remained volatile.
