RP EXPECTS GOLD IN SEAG TRACK AND FIELD

Manila, Sept. 25, 1997 - The Philippine team anticipates at least 3 old medals and 3 silvers in at least three events in next month's South East Asian Games in Jakarta.

The medals could be won by David Bunevacz and Fidel Gallenero in the decathlon, Hector Begeo and B. Desamito in the 3,000 meter steeplechase, and Elma Muros and Lerma Balauitan in the long jump.

According to Go Teng Kok, president of the Philippine Amateur Track and Field Association, the RP athletes have been training extensively in Shandong , China since June, except for Bunevacz who is training in Los Angeles. Bunevacz will fly back to Manila to join the team which leaves for Jakarta on October 8.
