RP FOOTBALL TEAM BEATS SENDAI

Manila, Sept. 22, 1997 -- The Philippine football team has scored a victory over the Sendai University squad in Tokyo. The RP booters flew to the Japanese capital for a two-week training stint in preparation for the 19th South East Asian Games in Jakarta next month.

They are scheduled to play six to eight games against strong J-League teams which have drafted top-rank players from Europe and South America.

Coach Juan Cutillas said the training trip is expected to give the team a much-needed boost, adding that "the games against strong J-League teams will surely toughen them up."
