SARAH BALABAGAN MOVIE FINALLY APPROVED
Manila, Sept. 30, 1997 - "The Sarah Balabagan Story" will finally be shown in movie theaters around the country.
The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) approved the movie for public exhibition after the producer deleted 21 scenes which the government of the United Arab Emirates had objected to.
The movie stars Vina Morales as the teenage domestic helper who was sentenced to death after killing her employer who tried to rape her. Government intercession saved Sarah's life from the gallows.
The film was directed by Joel Lamangan, and now has a PG-7 classification. No playdate has been announced.
