JESSICA ALFARO MOVIE FLOPS
Manila, Sept. 25,1997 - The star of the movie "The Jessica Alfaro Story" knew it was going to be a box office flop before it was even released for showing.
Alice Dixon, who plays the title role in the film about the Vizconde Massacre, says her failure to promote the movie is a very small factor. She blames everything on the two-year delay inn its showing.
"Jessica is no longer hot. We should have shown the movie sooner, while the public was still keenly interested," Dixon said.
The delay was caused by lawsuits; the Vizconde Massacre trials are still ongoing and principal suspects include Hubert Webb, son of Senator Freddie Webb.
"A lot of people meddled. There are many revelations in the movie which hurt a few," she added.
And her evaluation of Jessica Alfaro, the state witness? "The movie was based on her testimony, her own story, and she was honest in telling it."
