JUDY ANN MAY QUIT
OVER MOM-MANAGER RIFT
Manila, Sept. 20, 1997 -- Soap opera princess Judy Ann Santos might be forced to leave show business if her mother's quarrel with business manager Alfie Lorenzo is not resolved soon.
The newspaper MALAYA's movie writer Rechilda Reyes reports that the actress has repeatedly tried to patch things up between her mom and her manager-mentor, but neither one would listen to her.
"To finally have peace for everybody, I will just do it without any warning. They're both hard-headed, that's their problem" Judy Ann told Malaya.
Alfie's relationship with the Santos family began when he took over Judy Ann and her brother Jeffrey while mom Carol, estranged from her husband, worked in Canada. Under Alfie tutelage, Judy Ann became a TV superstar through ABS-CBN Channel 2 soap operas.
Judy Ann's movie "Sana Naman" broke box office records. Mom Carol decided to leave her job abroad and look after Judy Ann, who had requested her to come back home. The grapevine claims that's when trouble began.
According to Malaya, the grapevine claims Judy Ann's mother discovered that Alfie was mishandling he daughter's earnings. This was denied by the young actress, who said Alfie has always been open and was never delinquent where her finances were concerned.
