FOR DRUG LINKS -- CEBU CITY POLICE CHIEF SACKED
Cebu City, Sept 25, 1997 - Five police officers, all with the rank of colonel, are being considered as replacements for former Cebu City Police Director Supt. Antonio Enteria, who has been ordered relieved pending investigation of alleged links with a suspected drug lord.
Philippine National Police (PNP) chief for Central Visayas, Senior Supt. Danilo Flores, said two of the names he submitted to the PNP Senior Officers Placement and Promotion Board: Supt. Rene Elumbaring who's a former Cebu provincial police director and Supt. Ronald Roderos, the promotions board secretary.
Enteria's problems began after admitting at a congressional hearing that he and four other police officers went to Hawaii in 1995 with the brother of Peter Lim, a suspected drug lord. He also admitted being a close friend of Lim.
He was placed under investigation for possible violations of the PNP Code of Ethics, the anti-Graft Law and the PNP Law.
