MINDORO AIRPORT HAZARD BLOCKED
Occidental Mindoro, Sept. 22, 1997 --Top officials of this province are filing a class suit to stop the construction of a fuel plant that they fear could become an aviation hazard.
Being sued by Congressman Jose Villarosa, Governor Josephine Ramirez-Sato and San Jose Mayor Juan Santos are Petron Corporation and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.
The proposed site only 100 meters from the runway, which they claim a clear violation of the International Civil Aviation Organization's rule that such structures should be 300-meters from the runway.
