RELIEF FOR DELINQUENT
LAS PINAS TAXPAYERS
Las Pinas City, Sept. 21, 1997 -- The Sangguniang Panlunsod (City Council) of Las Pinas has approved a general tax amnesty for delinquent taxpayers. It stipulates a 100-percnt relief on interests and penalties for delinquent real property tax, business, commercial and industrial fees and charges.
Last Picas Mayor Verge Aguilar proposed the amnesty, arguing that it will increase the town's revenue collection because the lifting of the penalties will mean more taxpayers will now be willing to come out and pay taxes.
Vice Mayor Tony Tamayo, city council president officer, said the general amnesty will benefit the majority of taxpayers.
